Cookie Policy
Last updated: February 19, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how StakeLink (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit or use our Service at stakelink.app. By continuing to use the Service, you acknowledge the use of the cookies described below.
1. What Cookies We Use
StakeLink uses only two cookies, both of which are strictly necessary for the Service to function:
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration | Attributes |
|---|---|---|---|
| stakelink_session | Authentication session cookie. Stores a session token that is linked to your user account on our server. This cookie is required for you to remain logged in across page loads. | 30 days | HTTPOnly, Secure (production), SameSite=Lax |
| stakelink_anon | Anonymous session identifier. A randomly generated UUID v4 assigned to visitors who access predictions through shared links without creating an account. Used to associate your picks with your browser session and prevent duplicate submissions on the same prediction. | 1 year | SameSite=Lax |
Neither cookie contains personally identifiable information. The stakelink_session cookie contains a cryptographically random token that references server-side session data. The stakelink_anon cookie contains only a randomly generated UUID with no connection to any personal data.
2. Essential Cookies Only
StakeLink uses only strictly necessary cookies that are essential for the core functionality of the Service. We do not use:
- Advertising or marketing cookies
- Third-party tracking cookies
- Performance or analytics cookies
- Social media cookies
- Preference or personalization cookies
Our cookies serve only two purposes: keeping registered users logged in and identifying anonymous participants across page loads to prevent duplicate picks. No user behavior tracking, profiling, or cross-site identification is performed through our cookies.
3. No Third-Party Tracking
StakeLink does not integrate any third-party tracking services. Specifically, we do not use:
- Google Analytics or any Google tracking products
- Facebook Pixel or Meta tracking technologies
- Advertising network trackers or retargeting pixels
- Any other third-party analytics or tracking scripts
All analytics within StakeLink are first-party, server-side, and based on anonymized event data. No third-party JavaScript is loaded for the purpose of tracking your behavior across websites.
4. Managing Cookies
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies from specific or all websites. Here is how to manage cookies in common browsers:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
Please be aware that if you delete or block the stakelink_session cookie, you will be logged out of the Service and will need to sign in again. If you delete or block the stakelink_anon cookie, your anonymous session will be reset and you may not be recognized as a returning participant on predictions you previously interacted with.
5. Cookie Consent
Because StakeLink uses only strictly necessary cookies that are essential for the Service to function, explicit cookie consent is not required under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Recital 30 of the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive (Article 5(3)) exempt cookies that are strictly necessary for the provision of a service explicitly requested by the user.
Both of our cookies fall within this exemption: stakelink_session is necessary for the authentication service you explicitly request when signing in, and stakelink_anon is necessary for the prediction participation service you explicitly request when submitting a pick. Accordingly, we do not display a cookie consent banner.
